CCTV Camera Uses – A Brief History

Way back in the year 1942 when the Second World War was in full swing, the cctv cameras were used for the first time in Germany.  It was installed by Siemens AG at Peenemunde.  The basic objective was to observe and monitor the launching of the V2 rockets.  The great scientist Walter Bunch was the designer of the system.

Even today the CCTV systems are used in all launching sites.  It records the flights of rockets and monitors the functioning so that the possible causes if any, of the rocket malfunctioning, can be detected instantly.

Larger rockets are mostly fitted with CCTV that gives its minute to minute progress over the space. Thus the scientists grounded at the earth control centers are able to monitor and control its minute to minute progress.

Olean in United States was the first city that adopted the CCTV systems in September, 1968. The city administration set up CCTV along the main business streets to prevent occurrence of crimes.  These cameras piped images to the Police Department in the city.

Gradually the use of CCTV cameras became popular in most urban areas and the performance enhancement with the use of cctv dvr further enhanced its demands among the people.  In addition the growth of high level organized crimes and terrorism has caused a jump start to use of CCTVs all around the world.  Of course the use is more pronounced in countries like UK.
